Turnford Gymnastics Club

December 2011
On Sunday 4th December our annual club championships were held at Marriotts Gym in Stevenage. There were 8 individual competitions which were strongly contested and a range of individual trophies to be awarded. The results are detailed below:

November 2011

On Sunday 13^th November Charlie represented the Hertfordshire A team in the Eastern Region Inter counties competition, held at Pipers Vale gym in Ipswich. There were 9 teams in the competition and after a nail biting competition the Hertfordshire A team finished in 3^rd place with the Hertfordshire B team close behind in 4^th place.

Well done Charlie – we’re really proud of you!

October 2011

Hertfordshire will this year field two teams at the Eastern Region Inter counties competition on 13^th November, and after a successful trial Charlie has been selected to be part of the Hertfordshire A Team. Laura her coach has also been asked to take round the Hertfordshire B team with a fellow Herts coach. This is the second time Charlie has been selected to represent the county and its a tremendous acheivement.

October 2011

On 22^nd & 23^rd October the Hertfordshire Teams competitions took place across various levels. This year we had a level 5 (Abbie Watson, Jessica Backman, Beth Forster and Rachel Ward) and a level 4 team (Becky Humphry, Mia Berry, Darcy Wood-Walsh and Megan Blackman) representing Turnford. Both teams competed well in strong fields with the level 5 team finishing in 5^th place and the level 4 team finishing in 4^th place.

October 2011

On Saturday 22^nd October we had Anabel Ashman, Katerina Kasapi (10/11), Zoe Tolley, Bethany Haas, Luke Yeardye and Alfie Gibbs (12+) all representing Turnford at the Hertfordshire Recreational apparatus qualifying competition. All the gymnasts competed well, with the following qualifying through to regional finals in Ipswich on the 27^th November on their respective pieces.

Anabel: 1^st on vault and 4^th on beam. Katerina: 1^st on beam. Bethany: 3^rd on bars. Luke: 1^st on vault, single bar, floor and 2^nd on parallel bars. Alfie: 1^st on parallel bars and 2^nd on vault, single bar and floor.

September 2011

On Sunday 24^th September we had gymnasts competing at level 5, 4 and 3 at the Hertfordshire county championships. In the first competition of the day we had Abbie Watson and Jessica Backman in the 10/11 age group, Beth Forster in the 12/13 age group and Rachel Ward in the 14+ age group. All the girls competed well, with notable success for Beth Forster finishing in 3^rd place in her age group and Rachel Ward winning the 14+ competition, becoming Level 5 County Champion.

In the level 4 competition we had Darcy Wood-Walsh and Megan Blackman in the 10/11 age group and Mia Berry, Becky Humphrey and Millie Bolton in the 14+ age group. All the girls competed well in tough competitions.

In the level 3 competition, Charlotte Georgiou was our sole representative, competing well and showing her Tsukahara vault for the first time in competition, resulting in a bronze ribbon.

July 2011

Congratulations to all the girls who passed their Hertfordshire Grades on Sunday 3rd July 2011.

Grade 2: Bethany Haas, Anabel Ashman, Katerina Kasapi and Jasmine Lethridge.

June 2011

On Sunday 19th June, we had two teams representing Turnford at the Level 6 County Teams competition.

Turnford 1 - Ellie Yeardye, McKenzie Wood-Walsh, Zoe Dear and Lauren Gray finished in second place, securing silver medals.

Turnford 2 - Kira McDonagh, Kiki Eagle, Abbie Knight and Isabella Sheppard finished in 5th place. 

All the girls played a strong part in their teams success. Well done to all the girls!

May 2011

On Sunday 15th May, Turnford's gymnasts competed in the Hertfordshire Level 6 competition.
In the 7-8 age group, Kiki Eagle produced a fantastic performance to become Hertfordshire County champion, with Isabella Shepperd finishing in 2nd place and securing a silver medal in her first level's competition.

In the 9-10 age group, Zoe Dear and Lauren Gray competed in a strong field finishing in 6th & 7th place respectively.

In the 13+ age group, Ellie  Yeardye had a strong competition to finish in 2nd place, receiving a silver medal and McKenzie Wood-Walsh narrowly missed out of the medals finishing in 4th place.

April 2011

On Sunday 10^th April, Turnford’s gymnasts competed in the Hertfordshire Club Grades.

Abbie Watson produced a medal winning performance finishing in 2^nd place at grade 14 (10+ age group) narrowly missing out on the gold. Abbie will now go on to represent Hertfordshire at the regional finals in Ipswich. 

Zoe Dear (grade 14, 8/9 age group) and Megan Blackman (grade 12, 10/11 age group) both passed their respective grades with distinctions and strong performances from the rest of our girls resulted in them easily passing their grades. Grade 12: Darcy Wood-Walsh (10/11 age group), Beth Forster and Molly Plumb (12+) and grade 11: Becky Humphry and Rachel Ward.

March 2011

Congratulations to all the girls who passed their Hertfordshire Grades on Sunday 6^th March 2011.

At grade 1 a trophy is awarded for the highest score on each piece and Turnford won three of the four. Josephine Deacon won the trophy for vault and Isabella Shepperd won two trophies for bars and floor. Isabella also finished with the highest overall score at grade 1 by over a mark. Grade 1: Isabella Shepperd, Josephine Deacon, Katerina Kasapi, Scarlett Sanford, Jessica Pond, Jasmine Lethridge and Jayme-Lee Ferry all competed for their first Hertfordshire grade. 

Grade 2: Kiki Eagle finished in 3rd place.

Grade 3: Abbie Knight won with Kira MacDonagh in 2nd place.

Grade 4: Asha Thompson finished in 6th place.

Grade 5: Lauren Gray finished in 2nd place.
